Francesca is coming...and fuck, does she look gorgeous!
Luciano and Nico Onetti have a deep passion for giallo...which is easy to see in their 2013 debut film...Sonno Profondo. While that film was more of an extreme love letter for the genre enjoyed mostly by hardcore enthusiasts of all things giallo...it was a film that took great care and devotion to make. So much so that the final result was something much deeper than the average giallo tribute or neo-giallo. Every scene was soaked in the blood of the filmmakers' love for the genre...so, the film came off so sincere and pure. Much more authentic than anything I've seen in recent years. You just needed a strict tolerance of POV films and a disregard for strong, easy-to-follow narratives. I mean...we're talking about gialli here, after all. Francesca is the Onetti brothers' follow up giallo film...and, Jesus Christ...am I speechless.

Synopsis: It’s been 15 years since the disappearance of little Francesca, daughter of the renowned storyteller, poet, and dramatist Vittorio Visconti; and the community is stalked by a psychopath bent on cleaning the city of “impure and damned souls.” Moretti and Succo, questioned by the ineffectiveness of the police force, are the detectives in charge of elucidating the mystery surrounding these “Dantesque” crimes. Francesca seems to have returned, but she is not be the same girl who everyone knew…
