DEVIANT NEWS: IT found their Clown

Will Poulter is your new Pennywise!

Honestly...the weirdest part of this casting is that I never thought that we'd be leading a "news" story with a shot of the dude from We're the Millers (which is a pretty fucking hilarious film, if I do say so myself). Yet...here we are.

According to Variety, Poulter is basically just looking for where to sign on the contract:

Fukunaga penned the screenplay along with Chase Palmer. Seth Grahame-Smith and David Katzenberg are also producing through their KatzSmith banner while Dan Lin and Roy Lee are also producing.
Niija Kuykendall, Dave Neustadter and Walter Hamada are overseeing for Warner Bros. and New Line. Production will begin this summer.
After considering older actors like Mark Rylance and Ben Mendelsohn for the Pennywise role, New Line wanted to take a different route and go younger. New Line also distributed Poulter’s “We’re the Millers,” which co-starred Jennifer Aniston and Jason Sudeikis.
Sources say in the end, Fukunaga could not say no after being blown away by Poulter’s audition for the part and felt he was the right choice for the role.

Personally, I'm on board. The dude that gave us True Detective  is directing...and he loved Poulter's audition...so, I'm cool with that. It appears that they are going for a different tone and there are plenty of talented people behind the creative aspect...I really don't think that anyone wants to screw this up. Growing up, I've never really been huge on the original 1990 mini-series and always thought Stephen King's book had way too much going for it to be squeezed into one cohesive movie. I'm guessing that's why Fukunaga and company are splitting this into two films (maybe three). And I think this will give Poulter the depth he needs in order to climb out of those awkward characters that he's starting to be known for. Honestly...I just can't wait to see whatever it was that blew Fukunaga away in clown make-up. Especially with those eyebrows. Still...Poulter's got some pretty big clown shoes to fill.

Last I heard...New Line was in preparations to begin production for the new It  this summer. We'll keep you posted.

Thanks for reading,
