One of my favorite cinematic highlights of 2014 was sitting down in the dark and getting to experience the world premiere of Jill Sixx Gevargizian's Call Girl. I wasn't sure what to expect...and I don't think anyone else did, for that matter...but, what we witnessed was a new talent with fresh ideas. Well...now is your chance to experience that same fright!
Call Girl is a tiny horror films that explores some familiar elements while also channeling some of my all-time favorite genre staples within those elements. First you think that Laurence Harvey (Human Centipede 2) is gonna go all Hostel pervert on you...then...demons. I fucking love me some demons and just when you think Call Girl tramples over the same 'ole found footage tropes...it sucker punches you with something completely different. That's the genius of this little film. It's funny...when I was sitting there in the dark once the credits rolled for Call Girl...the only thing that I could think of was that I wanted more of this world. I wanted Tristan Risk to climb out of the screen and chase me around the building...only to find out that the exits were all sealed and there was no way out...and I was trapped inside with this demon! And then a helicopter crashes through the ceiling...and...and...
Ok...perhaps I got a little carried away. I apologize. Anyway...please enjoy one of the very best horror short films of 2014...Jill Sixx Gevargizian's...CALL GIRL...
Jill is currently hard at work on her next horror short film...THE STYLIST. You can keep up with news on all of her latest projects HERE and HERE. In the meantime, stay tuned for a cool PSA that she was a part of coming out next month for Women in Horror Recognition Month. We'll have more details on that epic awesomeness very soon!
Thanks for watching!
