5 DEVIANT TRAILERS

Today...we have 5 mega trailers for you! All offering something completely different from the other. One looks like a funny musical, another looks like a creepy-cool supernatural flick, while another has to do with a creepy cult, then there's a film with badass exorcists and finally a sick looking vampire flick. Let's have a look...shall we?

Stage Fright (2014)

First up is a film that I have mixed emotions about. While I can appreciate it for stepping outside the comfort zones of the genre and really trying something different with some of the familiar slasher elements the film employs, I can't help to think that it steps into some truly corny places. So, this one could either be really, really cool...or really, really stupid. Not to mention that it shares the name "Stage Fright" with a favorite Soavi film from 1987. The gore looks pretty amazing, tho! Not to mention "Bitch Tits"! Check it out...

This one's just fucking cool-looking. The poster is cool-looking...the style is cool-looking...even the goddamn mirror...is fucking cool-looking. The film feels like it uses supernatural elements in a really imaginative way...which, if you remember Mike Flanagan's previous effort Absentia (which I really dug), he took some traditional supernatural elements and created some really different stuff with them. I really can't wait to see this one when it hits theaters in April! Check out the fucking cool-looking trailer...

The Sacrament (2013)
Ti West (The House of the Devil, The Innkeepers)

In the immortal words of Mr. Christopher Julius Rock III, Ti West needs a hit like a crackhead needs a hit. I absolutely LOVE The House of the Devil. If you've been reading my stuff since the beginning, I really make no secret of that. I even really liked The Innkeepers. But, damn...I thought Ti West was bringing some next-level stuff...and he really hasn't delivered on that particular promise. So, I hope The Sacrament  really blows my hair back. If nothing else, the film stars AJ Bowen...and who the hell doesn't love them some AJ Bowen? Here's the "Red Band" trailer.

Deliver Us from Evil (2014)

I can't help but get excited for this next trailer. Deliver Us from Evil  kinda reminds me of this horror short called Deus Irae  that we wrote about a year ago. It takes the traditional exorcism elements and turns it into something much more badass. I really hope this film delivers on its potential...because this could end up being one of my favorites of this year. Of course...it could suck, too. But, it has Eric Bana in it...and I'm always rooting for that guy. Anyway, check out the trailer.

Afflicted (2013)

The vampire premise has been all but drained from its once original ideas. However, if you look...every now and again, you get a really inventive take on the Dracula thing. I usually frown upon found footage films of this kind but, I've been hearing some really great things about the film Afflicted. Hopefully, this one will set a certain standard that will wipe the slate clean of all the Twilight  bullshit that has, unfortunately, become synonymous with the term "vampire film". Doubtful...but, one can dream. Also, the trailer looks fucking great!
