El Orfanato is a film that not only delivers truly haunting scares, but also cripples its audience with a tragically emotional twist. J.A Bayona has crafted a really great film...and we have it for you today!

The Orphanage comes to us from Spain. A country that has been going through its own horror surge in the last few years. The film [REC] is probably the most obvious standout from the country...with every entry of that franchise being hugely anticipated by genre fans. However, the Guillermo del Toro produced thriller should really be considered another great example of what Spain is capable of. It really is a great country for genre films. 1971's Tombs of the Blind Dead is probably my personal favorite horror film from that country. But, there are amazing films released from that part of the world today...including The Skin I Live In, Julia's Eyes and Sleep Tight as some of the better examples in the last couple of years.
Anyway...here is the film that creeped me the fuck out and made me break down emotionally...all at once. What? I wasn't crying or anything...just got some goddamn debris in my eyes, man. I think it might've been from that gust of wind that blew the dust around the room. Seriously, dude. Why are you looking at me like that?? I didn't cry, man. Debris!
