There's a documentary about New England horror that needs your help!
Not many people know this...but, I'm originally from Boston. Lived there my whole life until I picked up and moved to Chicago in search of fame and fortune. Of course I've lived in other places (including a few years in New York) but, when I sit down and think about it...there's really no place like New England. The summers, the seafood, the music, the culture and, most of all...the horror.
Some of the most iconic images of terror have been New England born. Films like Jaws, The Haunting (the original, silly), It, Pet Sematary and Re-Animator have all been based in either fictional New England towns or places that you can actually still go to. The list of these particular East Coast films just goes on and on and there is a group of filmmakers eager to explore that world for you. However, they need your help.
Stacy Buchanan and Jessica Barnthouse of Boston's Wicked Bird Media have started a Kickstarter campaign to get their film project off the ground. I don't know about you...but, I would be super excited to watch a documentary that traces the origins of New England horror as well as the present day state of horror conventions. ■Something Wicked This Way Comes will dissect popular horror genre conventions driven by New England’s history and discuss the relationship between contemporary horror and the area.
■Documentary will feature notable horror genre luminaries and historically relevant New England locations and genre-related events.
■Production company is raising film funds with a Kickstarter campaign that includes a video featuring actor Kip Weeks from The Strangers, an infographic about horror in New England, and backer-exclusive pledge packages: http://kck.st/WhXhOK.
