HORROR COLLECTING with Amy Michael

I love vintage Halloween masks. A lot. And, like most things I get interested in, I fixate on collecting certain ones from certain periods.

Right now, I’m way into 1960s masks though I really want a Toxie mask that I stupidly didn’t buy on Etsy when I first saw it. I search Etsy fairly frequently for masks since they’re usually pretty reasonably priced and it isn’t as defeating as searching the monster that is Ebay.

I found this werewolf mask at an antique shop by my house. Lucky for me, no one else wanted it which blows my mind! It’s one of my favorites.

I found a couple of these (below left) on Etsy, but the Frankenstein and saber tooth cat (at least that’s my interpretation of it!) I scored at a musty outdoor junk shop. They were rotting away just waiting for me to shell out six bucks to take them to their forever home.

Found these two new additions (on right) last weekend at some place in BFE, Illinois. Three bucks!! They even have the 29 cent price tags still attached on the back.

Not a mask, this is my real face. And it’s vintage now since I turn 30 this week. UGHHH.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO ONE OF THE LOVELIEST COLLECTORS WE KNOW!
