So...around these parts...it's no secret that I absolutely love Edgar Wright. I want to have his love child. Wait...ummm....let me start over....
So...here at Film Deviant we strive to bring you the latest in horror and other odd film news....or at least as much as we can possibly bring you while still be locked down to indentured service. Today I learned via Collider that Edgar Wright has been asked by Mr. Frank Darabont to direct an episode of The Walking Dead.
Holy Fuckilicious!
Ok...now...let's not get overly ambitious here.....however, I will freely admit that Scott Pilgrim vs. the World was, hands down, my favorite film of 2010 and Shaun of the Dead is probably in my top 5 of favorite all time zombie films and Hot Fuzz was goddamn spectacular.....so, it is a little tough to keep my excitement from seeping out of my orifices.
When asked if he would direct an episode of one of television's best new shows....Mr. Wright had this to say...
Edgar Wright: Well, I really enjoyed the first season, and I wouldn’t wanna be the guy that comes in and fucks it up.
So....either Edgar Wright has suffered a severe head injury...or he is one of the most humble directors working in the film business today....because he would clearly come in and knock this fuckin' show out of the stratosphere with his pure talent. I can't wait to see what comes of this....as a matter of fact...I read somewhere that Darabont is thinking of bringing big names in to direct some of the episodes for the new season. Can you imagine if George A. Romero snapped out of his sucky film making coma and came in to direct something that actually doesn't suck? That would be like the planets aligning or something. I dunno...I'm just speculating right now. Let's just pray to the dark forces of cinema that Wright snaps out of his humble state and sits in the director's chair this season. That would be all kinds of epic epicness!
Thanks for reading,
bryan.
